If I could explain it -
I'm not sure I would. Lunar
patterns confuse me.

You look and see
a wild animal
riding a miniature ten-speed, wearing
a red hat
and tails. Your eyes laughing loudly.

Weary

and
intoxicating silence permeates
my steps, each

edging me closer
toward mirrored ripples -
From the water I hear No, Maybe. And see nothing.
Wait - Ok.
Now.

Come on. In we are.

Us, Swimmers, strong
and smooth.
A yellow watch keeps time,

crimson caps break, turquoise,
teal.
A body in the water, and
a Lifeguard to bury it in a hole at the beach,
too deep and shallow.
